Stadtpark Spittal
Spittal
Laid out over 400 years ago by Johann Graf von Ortenburg and protected for centuries by thick walls, the Stadtpark in Spittal is today one of the most beautiful parks in Carinthia!
More than 400 trees provide shade for many a weary cyclist or walker in the midday heat. Plane trees (several 100 years old), lime trees, chestnuts, copper beeches, acacias and ash trees are just a few of the numerous tree species.
The 3.2 x 2.4m picture frame in the middle of the park is the perfect setting for a souvenir photo with the castle and fountain in the background.
The "green heart of the city" is both a local recreation area for the local population and a meeting place for families with children, who can mainly be found at the park's own playground.
Depending on the season, the picture in the city park changes. From the blossoming jewel to the magnificent play of colours in autumn, there is something for everyone.
In winter, the traditional Christmas market takes place around the fountain, and you can enjoy skating laps at the ice rink in the park.
