Marktgemeindeamt Millstatt

Millstatt am See is a market town with 3436 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the district of Spittal an der Drau in Carinthia. The history of the municipality was for centuries linked to the monastery of Millstatt, which from the late 11th century until its abolition in 1773 had large estates in the region and significantly shaped its development. In the last third of the 19th century Millstatt changed within a few decades into a distinctive tourist resort, summer tourism is still the most important economic factor of the community on Lake Millstatt.
